Mother's Day!

I hope all the moms out there had a wonderful day!
A friend of mine who hosts local cropping days scheduled at 12 hour crop on Saturday, so that was really my mother's day gift.  I got three pages done in twelve hours, which is kind of a record for me.  Like a fast record.  One crop ago, I took the entire day (8 hours) to do one page.  My friends think I am a little slow.
Four hours per page is like scrapbook sprinting, so I am proud. 

It was a great day filled with friends, food, and embellishments, though not necessarily in that order.  I decided to do this week's Sketchy Thursdays challenge.

I love the story of this page, and though I didn't journal it, it will live for eternity here in blog-dom.  A friend and I took five children to a place that we THOUGHT was an apple picking place.  Any mom out there knows what a lot of work it is to get organized for an activity like this, especially for my friend, whose kids are basically 3,2, and 1.  So we get there, and we find out it is just a cider press, and the public cannot pick the apples from trees.  However, the employees picked lots of apples and they were all in wooden crates in front of the store.  I told my girls that we could pick apples from those crates and fill a few bags with them.  After filling a bag, my five year old said, "Wow, Mom!  Picking apples is SO MUCH FUN!"

Here are a few things from the page I wanted to highlight:

First, these flowers!!  I cut them on my big shot using a Tim Holtz die that you can find here.  This die is the best thing to happen to the world since ice cream sandwiches and vibrating baby chairs!  They are a little wacky to hold down after you glue them, but I am in love.  It is always fun to come up with the centers too.  I hand cut a little circle of muslin, and put a few stitches in it so it would not lay perfectly flat.  Then I cut the tiniest little flower out of some Maya Road Ribbon...got it free from scrapbook.com when I placed an order a while ago.  A couple of glue dots and bada bing.

Next:

This is a picture of one of my favorite things ever.  I will sob when I run out.  It is burlap wired ribbon from Joanne.  I crinkled the wired part a bit and then took some tulle and tied it with floss in a few places.  I think it was a good mix of rough and delicate.

There you have it!  Have a good one...personally, I think every day should be mother's day!
