My First Contest!!!

Well, one of the reasons I started a blog was so  I could enter some scrapbooking contests (I have a friend who is on approximately 84 design teams).  Maybe I am exaggerating just a little, but she's on A LOT of them. 
Anyhoo, I found the May Guest Design Team challenge over on Sketchy Thursdays.  You have to check this site out---what a great place it is---anytime you are short on inspiration, there is a sketch for you!  So the challenge is this:  They give you a layout sketch, and you interpret it your way...
Here is the sketch.

Pretty cool---reminds me of some of the outfits I wore in the eighties.  Anyway, here is how I interpreted the sketch:

I did a lot of stuff I don't normally do---thanks to the Sketchy Thursdays sketch.  I used a crumpled up paper towel to rag beige paint all over the paper.  I used glimmer mist (hard to see!).  I also had some stickers that I got in a kit that I liked, but didn't LOVE, and I forced myself to use them. I gathered a ribbon together to look like a ruffle using a sewing machine. I also don't think of myself as a person that uses lots of blues, but I sure did here!  And, I used an old earring.  Can you find it?  Here it is:

I really liked those earrings, but I lost the mate.

Just to use up more of those stickers I didn't love, I layered them on top of a journaling spot that I do love.  I think they look cool under the four.  Also, I pop-dotted the sticker circle....loving pop-dots lately and am running seriously low on them...

So here's the deal:  I'm on my way to submit this layout.  If I win, I will be ecstatic!  If I don't, I will still be ecstatic...why?  Because I am now a blogger who actually enters contests!!!  And my blog has four followers (Thanks to my girls).  This is a pretty big deal for me!
