May Day challenge: My Mind's Eye

First of all, don't forget to leave a comment----go here to be entered for my RAK giveaway!!!
I am trying to do as many challenges as I can this month so bear with me:)
I found this challenge over at My Mind's Eye---you can interpret the "May Day" theme any way you like.  To me, May says spring, and what is my signal that Spring is here (FINALLY?)?  Daffodils.  So that's what I decided to scrap.
Before I show you my layout, I gotta say, I am pretty proud of myself.  Sometimes, I fall completely in love with a new collection.  However, sometimes that collection is not "me".  That was the case with Find Your Wings and Fly and Sky's the Limit collections from My Mind's eye. Although lately I have been into plainer backgrounds, I loved this page and how much was going on on it before I attached one thing!
This is how my layout turned out:
I got to dye a doily!  I got to rip and shred and layer!

Here you can see that I used some real vintage music.  What you CAN'T see is that the song is actually about rain!  I did lots of crumpling and distressing.  I also had to use a quote from one of my favorite poets, Robert Frost:  "Nature's first green is gold..."  (Anyone remember The Outsiders?)  I also added some clear bubble stickers to simulate dew.

I popped this adorable saying and added some flags and a little bird from my jewelry crafting supplies.
Even though this was not my typical layout, I really enjoyed stepping into the "uncomfortable zone" and I was surprised how much I liked the result.
I will be linking up with My Mind's Eye today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

  5. Very pretty and very springy colors... Even though this kind of layout is not my style. It nice to keep open mind. Especially if you're new to scrapbook. I always try to find nice layouts that has a girl theme or a pretty theme. To be able to do some nice layouts for my mother, sister and grandmothers. For my heritage albums. Who knows maybe I'll enjoy all kinds of differe kinds of colors and themes in my artwork, photography and even my new creative outlet, scrapbook.
