ScrapFIT #60 Reveal: The Simple Things

 The Simple Things:
Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that mean the most!  Show us what simple little thing means so very much to you!  Is it a picture your child drew, a family heirloom,  a special recipe, a book...
Here is my take on this prompt:
This is my Bean,  also known as Bean the Wonder Cat, Beaner, Beanereener, and many other names.
I have always had cats my whole life, and Tom and I had two who were our first babies and lived long happy lives.  But this cat is different.  I picked her out at the animal shelter because she was so ugly, I thought no one would adopt her.  When I brought her home, my husband looked at her like---this is the one you picked?  BUT, he has grown to love her, as have the kids (our previous cats despised our kids).  She is the smartest. cat. ever.  She is a fierce outdoorswoman, and in the winter she is beside herself because she can't stand the cold for long.  I caught this picture of her staring out at the backyard and I thought she must be thinking of spring.
I picked up these flat-backed pins at big lots years ago---kinda gruesome I know, but the eggs in the nest are perfect because she is also known as Bean the nest wrecker.  She isn't a mouser, she is a birder.
That's why I put these little bird rub-ons on the layout as well.  Here's a little paradox about me:
I LOVE bird design---Looking around my living room right now, I see a bird plate, a ceramic bird, a bird on a stand, and a bird on a plaque.  I love their shape and what they add to the layout.  Hell, I even read a really strange book called Birdy, where a guy falls in love with a bird.  Weird.
BUT IN REAL LIFE, I don't love birds.  They build nests in weird places.  They poop on my deck.  So I don't mind that Bean is heavily involved in population control.
Hope you enjoyed this layout, can't wait to see what you link up!

  5. Thanks for your kind words on my blog. Congrats on being the new step up coach, although I don't really know what that entails, but it sounds important. I love that contemplative pose of your cat that you managed to capture and the integration of the calendar page. Take care.
